Immediately after college, Spencer worked five years for Motorola, Inc., a global high-tech manufacturing firm headquartered here in Austin. After that, he worked with a close friend who ran the American offices of a private European investment firm. There he was able to get a wide range of experience in the investment field.
Having decided that the financial services industry would be his life's calling, Spencer joined American Express financial advisors where he was active as a financial planner and securities broker. Spencer came to work for ProFutures as an Investor Representative in October of 1999.
While at ProFutures, Spencer has not only helped our clients with their financial planning needs, but has also been a major contributor to our monthly newsletters. Spencer also serves on our Research and Due Diligence Committee, where his experience in domestic and international markets made him invaluable during the development of our Absolute Return Program.
Spencer is our "Renaissance Man," having studied at Southwest Texas State University and Rutherford College, The University of Kent in England. His studies there concentrated on political science and military history. He is always ready for a lively political discussion, or an analysis of World War II battles. Spencer holds multiple insurance licenses in the State of Texas.
Spencer was born and raised right here in Austin. When not working at ProFutures, he spends his time reading extensively and collecting antiques. He is also a self-described "political junkie," and a huge Houston Texans fan.
Spencer sums up his investment philosophy as follows: "A good financial plan should be like an easy-to-follow set of instructions for your dreams. If you follow the directions and seek professional guidance, you will be able to build your dreams into reality."
